Adopting a Retired Racer

With dogs running at speeds up to 41 mph, a greyhound race is over almost as quickly as it begins. Greyhound racing is a highly competitive sport – a fraction of a second separates the winners from the rest of the pack.

When their racing career is over these good natured and gentle dogs need loving homes. Approximately 25,000 racing greyhounds are retired every year and all of them deserve loving homes. Our goal, along with like-minded organizations, is to ensure that every greyhound gets that chance.

If you are considering adding a pet to your family, consider adopting a retired racing greyhound.

Recently, voters in the state of Florida passed Amendment 13, which bans greyhound racing by 2020. Florida has over 10,000 dogs that will need to be re-homed. TGS is helping to re-home these dogs. However, please realize that racing does not end in FL until 12/31/2020.

If you are interested in adopting, please be patient.
